Raising Children One Day
at a Time! A Daily Survival Guide for Committed Parents (365 Meditations)

As a busy parent, embracing a business, family, and
personal life, I have
grown to cherish the daily grounding I receive from "Raising
Children One
Day at a Time!" The affirming language and thought-provoking
topics leave
me with opportunities to examine my relationship with my children
and even
the beliefs I've developed from my own parents.
I often struggle with the time to sit down and become inspired by
a book.
The meditation-a-day style in which this book is written allows me
to
explore topics like forgiveness, compassion, and honesty in one
page. It
then leaves me with an affirmation related to the topic. This
affirmation
usually sticks with me throughout the day. In the spirit of how
I've
discovered things work, I generally absorb the perfect message
that I'll
access later in the day, usually in the middle of a challenging
situation.
I realize that there is no perfect parenting style and there are
no perfect
parents. What I do know is that we can each focus our efforts on
the gift
we have as adults and the treasure we hold in reaching the essence
of our
children. It's not about pacifying them with material objects;
it's about
our everyday validation of their feelings and individuality that
helps them
succeed as well-balanced adults. In a world that sometimes feels
incredibly
imbalanced, it's more important than ever to practice this belief.
As a parent and a parent educator, I recommend Thomas Wright's
book as a
daily reminder of the possibilities to nurture our children's
spirits and
meet them where we are all one - in our hearts.
