Keeler, a close friend of the Horn family, has been a constant
companion and supporter of Horn's efforts to get down on paper his
thoughts about terminal illness, one's right to choose, and topics
surrounding end-of-life issues.
In 1989, when Horn lost the use of hands due to ALS, she became his
"right hand," writing his dictated comments onto his students'
papers and recording his grades. She continues to take his dictation to
this day, albeit in a more complicated fashion-through an amazing process
using an alphabet chart and the dilation of Horn's eyes.
Keeler was the driving force that kept Horn focused during the writing of
his first book, How Will They Know If I'm Dead?.
And due to her dedication on his first book, Horn insisted she be given
the title of co-editor on Who's
Right? [Whose Right].
An
accomplished harpist, Keeler resides in Northridge, California, with her
husband Bruce.
